SMARTPHONE HEALTH CHECKS

Japanese electronics makers are taking the use of smartphones to a new level. They've unveiled technology that will allow people to keep a close check on their health.
Officials at Kyocera Corporation have announced a new application called "Daily Support." It enables people to measure visceral fat in their bodies, using sensors installed in their smartphones. The company says users are able to see a cross-section image of themselves by inputting their girth measurement, and then circling the phone halfway around their abdomen.

Electronics giant Sony has also unveiled new wristband technology aimed at keeping people healthier. The device checks a person's heart rate, sleep quality and calorie consumption, and then displays the resulting stress levels on smartphones.

日本の電機メーカーは、スマートフォンを使った次世代のサービスに取り組んでおり、人が自分の健康状態を常に確認できる技術を公開しました。
京セラが発表したのは、「デイリーサポート」と呼ばれる新たなアプリです。このアプリは、スマートフォンに組み込んだセンサーで利用者の内臓脂肪を測ることができます。京セラによりますと、利用者は自分の腹囲を登録し、スマートフォンでお腹の回りを半周なぞることで、自分の体の（想定される）断面図を確認できるということです。
京セラでこの事業を担当する内藤昌宏さんは、「内臓脂肪を目に見えるようにすることで利用者の意識を高め、健康状態の改善に役立てばいいと思っています」と話しています。
電機大手のソニーも、人の健康維持を目指したリストバンド型の製品を公開しました。この製品は、心拍数や睡眠の状態、カロリー消費量を計測して、スマートフォンにストレスの状態を表示するということです。
