INTERNATIONAL SANCTIONS LIFTED

Officials from Iran and six world powers say economic sanctions on Iran will be lifted. The announcement follows the International Atomic Energy Agency's confirmation that Tehran had met its obligations under last year's deal concerning its nuclear program.

"As Iran has fulfilled its commitments, today multilateral and national economic and financial sanctions related to Iran's nuclear program are lifted in accordance with the JCPOA."

Iran and the six world powers reached the final agreement last July. It said the economic sanctions on Iran would be removed once the IAEA had verified the nation had fulfilled its commitments to curb its nuclear program. The requirements included transferring enriched uranium out of Iran. The material can be used in nuclear weapons. U.S. President Barack Obama has signed executive orders lifting sanctions placed on Iran in response to its nuclear program.
Iran once reacted to the sanctions by threatening to block access to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's major shipping routes for crude oil.

イランへの経済制裁 解除

イランと（関係する）６つの大国が、イランに科している経済制裁を解除すると表明しました。ＩＡＥＡ＝国際原子力機関が去年の合意に基づく核開発の制限義務をイランが果たしていることを確認し、この発表がなされました。
ＥＵ＝ヨーロッパ連合のフェデリカ・モゲリーニ上級代表は、「イランが合意事項を履行したことを受けて、イランの核開発に関する複数の国による、そして各国による経済金融制裁は、ＪＣＰＯＡ＝包括的共同行動計画に従って解除されます」と述べています。
イランと関係６か国は去年７月に、イランが核開発の制限義務を果たしていることがＩＡＥＡによって確認されれば、イランへの経済制裁は解除するという最終合意に達していました。この合意の条件には、核兵器の原料になりうる濃縮ウランをイラン国外へ搬出することも含まれていました。アメリカのバラク・オバマ大統領は、イランの核開発に関連して科してきた経済制裁を解除する大統領令に署名しました。
イランは、かつてはこの経済制裁に対抗して、世界的な原油の主要輸送路の１つであるホルムズ海峡の封鎖を示唆するなどの反応を見せていました。
