UNSC ADOPTS SANCTIONS

The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution to tighten sanctions on North Korea following the country's latest nuclear test and rocket launch. The launch is widely believed to have been a long-range ballistic missile test.

"The draft resolution received 15 votes in favor. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously."

The sanctions include a ban on exporting aviation fuel to North Korea and outlaw exports of gold, titanium and rare earth minerals from the country. In addition, member states are required to inspect any cargo that enters or leaves their territory heading to or from the North. The council has previously adopted four sanction resolutions against North Korea, but they failed to stop the country from pursuing its nuclear and missile programs.
One of Pyongyang's UN delegates commented on the resolution.

北朝鮮制裁 安保理が決議

北朝鮮が最近行った核実験とロケット発射を受けて、国連の安全保障理事会は、北朝鮮への制裁を強化する決議を採択しました。このロケットの打ち上げは、長距離弾道ミサイルの発射だったというのが大方の見方です。
安全保障理事会では議長が、「制裁決議案は１５の賛成票で、全会一致で採択されました」と報告しました。この制裁には、北朝鮮への航空燃料の輸出禁止や、北朝鮮からの金やチタン、レアアースなどの輸出禁止が含まれています。さらに国連加盟国に対し、北朝鮮からの、そして北朝鮮向けの全ての貨物を検査することを義務づけています。安全保障理事会は、北朝鮮に対し過去４回の制裁決議を採択してきましたが、北朝鮮の核兵器やミサイル開発を止めることはできませんでした。
この決議に対して、北朝鮮の国連代表の１人は、「国連安保理が採択した決議は違法で、認めることはできない」と話しています。
