UNPAID OVERTIME RECORD

A record number of Japanese workers are being forced into unpaid overtime. Labor ministry figures reveal more than 200,000 employees were affected during the last financial year.
Officials say the ministry's Labour Standards Inspection Office took action against about 1,330 companies nationwide. The firms were ordered to properly compensate the out-of-pocket workers. Each of the companies paid out the equivalent of at least 9,000 dollars.
While the number of negligent companies was down by 90 from the previous year, the total of employees involved was the largest since the ministry began taking records in 2002. The unpaid salaries amount to 125 million dollars. One company underpaid its workers to the tune of 12 million dollars.

サービス残業 過去最多２０万人余りに

日本では、過去最多の人が無償の残業を強いられています。厚生労働省が発表した数字では、対象となった従業員の数は昨年度２０万人を超えました。
厚生労働省によりますと、労働基準監督署が全国のおよそ１,３３０社に指導を行ったということです。これらの企業は、サービス残業をしていた従業員に適切に賃金を支払うよう指導を受け、各社が最低でも９,０００ドルに相当する金額を支払いました。
適切に賃金を支払わず（指導を受けた）企業の数は前年度より９０社減ったものの、対象となった従業員の総数は、２００２年に記録を取り始めてから最大となりました。支払われなかった賃金の合計は１億２,５００万ドルで、１社だけで１,２００万ドルもの賃金を支払っていなかった企業もありました。
