The Ten Commandments For all the Dog Owners Japanese

  1. I, as a dog, am likely to live to ten, or at most fifteen years old. So you will have a chance to see my death. After thinking about it carefully, decide to buy me.
  2. Think a bit about what you really want me to do.
  3. Place your trust in me--- it's crucial to me for my well-being.
  4. Don't be angry with me too long, and don't leave me alone in order to punish me. You have your work to do, your entertainment to enjoy, and your friends to talk with. But I have only you to play with.
  5. Talk to me every now and then. Even if I don't understand what you said, I understand your feelings from your tone of voice.
  6. Remember no matter how you treat me, I'll never forget you.
  7. Think twice before you hit me. I have sharp teeth that could easily crush your hand's bones, but I try not to bite you.
  8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the proper food, or I've been exposed under the sun too long, or my heart is getting older and weaker.
  9. Take good care of me when I get old; you, too, will grow old.
  10. Sit beside me and watch my setting out on a journey to another world. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it," or I hope it happenes while I am out." Everything becomes easier for me if you are sitting beside me. Remember I love you from my heart.
