AD 239:A woman called HIMIKO ruled Japan.
Yamato Era:
300:Yamato era began.
538:Buddism was introduced from China.
607:The oldest wooden temple "Horyuji temple" was built.
708:First coins were made.
Nara Era:
710:New government started in the Nara prefecture.
743:The largest Buddha statue was made in "Todaizi temple"in Nara.
Heian Era:
794:Capital was moved in Kyoto prefecture.
There were two powerful families fighting against each other to get the power using Emperor.
It was the Court Government of the Emperors.
Kamakura Era:
1192:Capital was moved in Kamakura in Kanagawa prefecture
Samurai Shogun became the leader of Japan.
Minamoto family got the power of using Emperor.
Muromachi Era:
1334:There were two capitals. One was in Kamakura. The other in Kyoto. They had been fighting for 60 years.
Sengoku Era:
1467:The era of battle began. Civil war happened in many places to control Japan.
1543:The Gun was introduced from Portugal.
1549:The Christianity was introduced from Spain.
Azuchi-Momoyama Era:
1556:Capital was moved in Osaka by HIDEYOSI.
The government was carried out by Shogun and rich merchants.
It had very luxurious culture.
Edo Era:
1603:Capital was moved in Tokyo.
IEYASU and his sons and relatives ruled Japan for 300 years.
1639:Foreign countries were prohibited to enter Japan.
1853:Big ships from America surprised many people.
1854:The peace treaty between America and Japan was concluded.
Meiji Era:
1868:The government by Emperor started in Tokyo.
They began to wear the hair and clothes of western style. They gave up the swords.
1872:The first national silk factory was built in Tomioka in Gunma prefecture.
Much culture was introduced to Japan from many countries and new age which had high technique began.
1889:Old constitution started.
1894:Japan defeated China.
1904:Japan defeated Russia.
Taisho Era:
1912:We has new Emperor.
1923:The big earthquake attacked Tokyo.
Showa Era:
1927:New Emperor succeeded to the throne.
Militarism became strong day by day.
1941:Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and the war started.
1945:Japan had two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and in Nagasaki and the war ended.
1946:New constitution based on democracy started.
1964:Tokyo Olympic was held. New Bullet train started.
1972:Okinawa was returned to Japan.
Heisei Era:
1989:New Emperor started.
Consumer's tax began.
1991:Self-Defence Army went abroad.
1993:Prince married.
1995:Earthquake in Kansai area.
1998:Nagano Winter Olympic Games
2002:Koizumi visited North Korea
2004:Defence Army began to be sent to Iraq
2005:Aich Exhibition
2006:WBC Japan first Champion
