How Wonderful Our School Days were
(Translated by Sadao Mazuka)

aogaku We used to pray in the school chapel that vines had crept up the wall
I can still recognize all of our friends and we were so happy in the class
I didn't think that my bag was so heavy even with many books in it
Because we could learn much about everything with joy
I sure remember the nice smell of the notebooks and the blue ink
These were on autumn days in the library
How wonderful our school days were!

We used to sing sacred songs and I decided to offer my life to God
I was pure, naive and so reticent with no makeup myself
My longing for love made myself disappointed many times
And I kept the diary in which such the matter with tears sometimes
On the bookshelf, there are some romantic novels that I read on that time
These are all my nostalgic memories
How wonderful our school days were!

My faithful friend was looking at the Cross shinning by the candles
And was praying to God with her fingers crossed, in the school chapel
I had yearned to her like an elder sister and she treated me like a sister
So I wanted our beautiful friendship to continue forever
Tennis court, campfire
aogaku Never return such the good days again
These are all my nostalgic memories
How wonderful our school days were!
These are all my nostalgic memories
How wonderful our school days were!(2009.11.15)
