鎮魂の鐘楼（かね）

御国（みくに）の為に出征（ゆき）たる戦友（とも）よ
老いたる父母の　幸せ祈り
遠き異国の　見知らぬ土地で戦死（し）して帰らぬ
われらが戦友（とも）よ　　御魂（みたま）鎮まれ
この鐘の音（ね）を　　聞きて瞑（もく）せよ　安らかに
　　

幾多の苦難転戦しても
幼き子弟（こども）の成長（そだつ）を願い
熱さきびしき　異国の海に散華（ちっ）て帰らぬ
我らが戦友（とも）よ　　戦友（とも）よ静かに
この鐘の音（ね）を　　聞きて瞑（もく）せよ　安らかに

想いで多き　故郷の空に
可愛（いと）しき妻子（つまこ）の幸せ祈り
寒さきびしき　異国の土地に戦死（し）して帰らぬ
我らが戦友（とも）よ　　建てた供養の
この鐘の音（ね）を　　聞きて瞑（もく）せよ　安らかに

*戦争を安易に忘れ去ることの怠惰をいましめているかのように、
多くの友が祖国の栄光を信じて戦死していった。
その死の上に戦後日本の平和と繁栄が築かれたのだ。
しかし彼らは何も語らない。その謙虚な沈黙が限りなく悲しい。

Many people died in World War Ⅱ, wishing glory on our country.
But we believe that they also warned us against useless world war.
The progress and peace in Japan after the war, was achieved by their supreme sacrifice.
They never boast, but they are in instead silent forever.
