The ship is sailing along the Seto Inland Sea

Villagers say that I’m too young to be a bride

But I bet on your love to be sincere and forever

As I said “Good-bye”, I waved my hand to everyone

Then my brother told me that he would miss me

But I said that he would be brave enough to live there

I hope he will take care for our parents when they are old

On the sunset, my native village was leaving me behind

The ship turned at the cape and sailed for the next island

I had tears in my eyes when I whispered “Good-bye”

Then I turned and looked toward the island that you live on

Island-to-island, the ship is sailing over the sea

I believe that we will be happy in your village

Tomorrow it’ll be fine because of the evening glow
