夏も近づく 八十八夜
野にも山にも 若葉がしげる
あれに見えるは 茶つみじゃないか
あかねだすきに 菅の笠

日より続きの きょうこのごろを
心のどかに 摘みつつ歌う

つまにゃ日本の 茶にならぬ

Picking Tea Leaves

In the late spring, the seeds of rice have shot out
And the tea leaves gleam in thickly wooded hillside
We can see girls with sedge hat and kimono sleeves tied back

They are picking tea leaves one by one with their hands

On all sunny days, they are working in the fields
Putting tea leaves in bamboo basket on their back
All of them are singing folk songs like this
“I’ll serve the first tea of the season to my lover”(2010.9.10)
