　昔のことぞ　しのばるる

　風の音よ　雲のさまよ

　よする波も　かいの色も

２、 ゆうべ浜辺を　回（もとお）れば

　昔の人ぞ　忍ばるる

　寄する波よ　かえす波よ

　月の色も　星のかげも

When I was walking on the shore in the morning

I remembered old tales that grandfather often told me

I was falling into these tales while hearing the wind and waves

And seeing the shapes of the clouds and shells at the shore

When I was walking on the shore in the evening

I remembered old songs that grandmother sang to me

I was singing these songs with the wind and waves

And seeing the blue moon and the stars in the sky
