今は山中、今は浜（はま）、
今は鉄橋（てっきょう）渡るぞと、
思う間も無く、トンネルの
闇（やみ）を通って広野原（ひろのはら）。

遠くに見える村の屋根（やね）、
近くに見える町の軒（のき）。
森や林や田や畠（はたけ）、
後（あと）へ後へと飛んで行く。

回り燈篭（どうろう）の絵のように、
変わる景色（けしき）のおもしろさ。
見とれてそれと知らぬ間（ま）に、
早くも過ぎる幾十里（いくじゅうり）。

Now on the mountainside, and now by the seashore
And then reaching to a railroad bridge
Without looking for the scenery
Passing through a tunnel and comes on a field

We can see village roofs over there
And we can see town streets near here
Forests, woods and rice fields
Everything leaving us behind

Like the picture of a revolving lantern
Wonderful scenery comes and goes
While we have been fascinating
