むかし　まずしい　むらのひと
つるを　たすけて　あげました
はねを　ひろげて　なくつるは
とおくの　やまへと　きえました

つるは　むすめに　なりました

しあわせ　つづいた　あるあさに
つるは　はたおり　のぞかれて

The Crane Lady

An old villager saved a crane in a trap
He kindly freed it from the trap
It flew away toward the mountain
Giving thanks to him

The female crane decided to repay him
Transformed herself into a young lady, she visited him
She worked on weaving as his adopted daughter
Very hard from early morning to late at night

One morning he looked in her weaving mysteriously
He knew the textiles were made of her feathers
She was obliged to return to her native mountain
Flapping her wings weakly and she never came back(2011.12.15)
