A Coconut
(Translated by Sadao Mazuka)

coconut Oh, dear lonely coconut on the beach!
From which island did you come here?
How long have you traveled, is it far from here?
I suppose, you'd drifted across the ocean several months

I suppose your mother tree still grows thick now
On your island peacefully
Making shadow with leaves on a beach
I sleep listening to sounds of the waves like you

Holding the coconut in my arms
I remember my family living on an island far from here
I'm just the same like the coconut
Seeing the sunset, I miss the one that I loved
Far over thousands of waves, my home exists
I'll be sure, in the future, to return to my native land (2010.5.5)
